1945: Bankhead Welding Service opened for business as a 2 man shop on Pelham Street in Atlanta.

1947: Moved to 1325 Bankhead Ave. and later to 1345.

1955: Began doing repair work for Southern Railway.

1959: Formed a sister corporation, Bankhead Maintenance Co., to perform repairs to manganese and high carbon steel track componants for Southern Railway. BMC consisted of 2 man crews working in major railroad yards.

1959: Bankhead Asphalt Paving is formed.

1960: Bankhead Railway Engineering is formed to build railroad sidings for industrial plants, shipyards, and other government facilities, and later, helped make track changes preparing for the first Atlanta MARTA lines. Later BRE became specialized in ditching and drainage type work for the railroad industry. This division of Bankhead grew and prospered until 1980 when it ceased operation.

1964: Bankhead is awarded a contract to build a diesel locomotive servicing facility at SRR's Brosnan Yard in Macon, Ga.

1965: Began producing automobile car-haul trailers for Complete Auto Transit.

1969: Southern Railway bridge over the Tye River in Virgina is destroyed by hurricane Camile. Thirty Bankhead welders along with SRR personnel had the bridge back in operation in less than 20 days.

1969: Bankhead Transportation Equipment is formed and later became one of the largest car-haul equipment manufacturers in the United States.

1973: BTE builds a paint shop and manufacturing facility in Cartersville, Ga.

1974: Bankhead Manufacturing Group is formed and expands to 1600 Ellsworth Dr. in Atlanta. The first project is an order for 3000 large steel reels for Western Electric for storing and transport of communication cable.

1975: BMG begins producing oil field drilling rigs and components for the Ideco division of Dresser Industries.

1975: Bankhead purchases Keheley & Co. to expand it's asphalt operations and later acquires the assets of McIntosh Paving and Albea Construction Co. Now armed with 7 asphalt plants in the metro area the name is changed to Bankhead Contracting, Inc. to justify it's position in the competitive market. This operation enjoyed many years of growth and prosperity.

1978: All South Supply opens in Cartersville, Ga.

1979: Purchased old Standard Oil facility at 1080 Bankhead and relocated corporate offices and some fabrication shops.

1982: Awarded contract from Norfolk Southern Railway to modify the rail welding plant in Atlanta. This was a total plant coversion from 39ft. rail to 80ft. rail.

1985: Awarded contract from Norfolk Southern to operate the Intermodal facility in Atlanta and later in Jacksonville, FL.

1996: Began manufacturing large forklifts for Taylor Machine Works of Louisville, MS.

1999: Awarded contact with Norfolk Southern to construct an Intermodal facility (Whitaker Yard) in Austell, GA.

2006: The assets of Bankhead Contracting, Inc. were sold leaving Bankhead Manufacturing Group, Bankhead Maintenance Co. and an expanded Bankhead Railway Services, Inc.
